Full Time Catechists The Legionaries of Christ implemented a plan for forming and maintaining professional, full-time religiousgood catechists in Latin America over 20 years ago. Its purpose is to check the tremendous advance of secularism, religious indifference, and the proselytism of pseudo-religious sects. The Full Time Catechist project is intended to support bishops by preparing evangelizers and placing them at the service of dioceses and parishes. These committed lay men and women, working as couples or individually, function as catechists. They always work in close cooperation with bishops and parish priests. In order to carry out their work, full-time evangelizers receive a salary that enables them to live decently while fulfilling their specific mission. |
