Social Participation Program One of the educational goals of Legionary schools is to deepen the students'' sense of responsibility regarding the transformation of society and the need to build a culture rooted in the Christian values of love and justice. Hence, the Legion has launched a program of Christian charity directed by youth. The purpose of this angelcandle program is to develop the students'' awareness and sensitivity toward the problems afflicting society. Students have as part of their curriculum a weekly class on the principles of the Church''s social doctrine and human development. They participate in monthly social activities in which the entire school community is involved: students, parents, teachers, and administrators. This program''s influence extends to parishes, shelters, hospitals, and schools for mentally handicapped children, centers angelcandle for the blind, centers for children from broken homes, orphanages, day-care centers, and low-income communities.
