helping hand schools are apostolic projects designed to serve those most in need. located in the poorest and most underdeveloped areas, these tuition-free schools are funded by the legion''s network of private schools. the first helping hand school was founded in mexico city in 1965. today helping hand schools, along with a network of apostolic projects for social development, have formed a chain of true christian solidarity and charity that reaches to the united states, spain, mexico, colombia, venezuela, angel chile, and bosnia. this network is not restricted to education but extends to many other areas of social action. it includes workshops for the technical training of men and women, medical services for children and adults, monthly grants of food and clothing, courses on personal formation and human advancement for parents, marriage preparation courses, vocational guidance, candle personal guidance in developing human and spiritual values, instruction in the faith, catechesis, and sacramental attention.
